Hi there! Glad you were interested enough to click on this page.

About me:

My name is Erin Donoho. I am a student at William Jessup University, and (more interestingly) a writer of novels, short stories, and poetry. I’m also a fan of literature and relationships in fiction, as you might have guessed. In this blog I hope to share the joy of fiction with you, whether novels, short stories, poetry, TV shows, or films, and show how they relate to real life. Special emphasis is placed on characters and character relationships, with an even more specific emphasis on male relationships, because I find those fascinating. (Platonic relationships–nobody be getting any ideas.)

But I also analyze other elements of various fictional pieces, such as settings, historical accuracy, and writing style. I also analyze screen adaptations and compare various stories.

I hope this all sounds at least intriguing. If so, please check out my posts.

No one likes a bragger, but in case you want to know more about me, here it is. I’ve published a collection of poetry in the 2015 edition of the literary journal Metonym. A short story of mine will be appearing in the upcoming 2016 edition. I’ve written too many novels, and am viciously and slowly editing one to hopefully submit to an agent. I also w0rk at William Jessup as a writing tutor, which I thoroughly enjoy.

Favorite authors include S.E. Hinton, J.D. Salinger, and William Faulkner. Favorite novels (as if I could ever pick) include but are not limited to all of S.E. Hinton’s YA novels, as well as Some of Tim’s Stories; The Catcher in the Rye; As I Lay Dying; The Sound and the Fury; Of Mice and Men; Strider by Beverly Cleary; and a ton of others. I also really enjoy John Updike’s poetry (and my English professors are all shaking their heads, saying, “We’ve exposed you to John Donne and Shakespeare and T.S. Eliot, and you pick John Updike?”) Yes, I do. He wrote some pretty great stuff.

I play piano and guitar, and I also sing. I have a rather eclectic musical taste, but generally like classic rock, as well as 1940s-1980s popular music, and some modern alternative, rock, and country. I love horses; I rode for ten years before starting college, and currently volunteer at a horse rescue. I am also a history fanatic, and have a strange nagging interest in medicine. (Hence my love for Emergency!).

Enjoy.
